| Melanie has officially worked in Children’s Ministry since 1999. Unofficially, she developed her love for teaching by helping in children’s Bible classes from the time she was a teenager. She joined the Otter Creek staff as Associate Children’s Minister in 2002. She especially enjoys working with music and creative arts, and is passionate about creative teaching methods, teaching the Bible in relevant and applicable ways. A native of Little Rock, AR, Melanie received her degree from Harding University. She has been married to her husband, Jay, since 1989, and they have two daughters, Tori and Abby.
“What’s not to love about working in Children’s Ministry? It’s challenging, exciting, rewarding, and lots of fun! I am privileged to partner with parents who want their children to grow up knowing God, and to work with volunteers who are so willing to invest themselves in kids’ lives. A strong foundation was laid for me, and I feel called to continue to build on that. David said it best in the Psalms: 'Since my youth, O God, you have taught me, and to this day I proclaim your marvelous deeds. Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me till I declare your power to the next generation, your might to all who are to come.' (Psalm 71;17, 18) I’m so glad Otter Creek is where I have the opportunity to serve!”
