Steve and his wife, Magda, worked for 21 years as missionaries in Guatemala. In 2001 Steve and his family returned to Nashville. His present responsibilities are divided between David Lipscomb University and Otter Creek. He chairs the Missions Committee, leads mission teams, teaches classes, and advises the prayer ministry. At David Lipscomb, he teaches courses in Missions and Bible.

In addition to equipping, I also get to work in the ongoing mission works that Otter Creek Supports! Listed below are the countries where and missions that we currently support:
Guatemala: Since my family’s leaving of Guatemala, the church continues to have a good leadership group and is a very active community of dedicated Christians. The church in Guatemala has two very capable leaders. Armando Hernandez is the principal church leader and scholar supports himself. Otter Creek continues to support the work in Guatemala by financially supporting Fredy Martinez as well as giving some additional funds. This financial support is decreasing on a yearly basis so that the church will become financially independent. We have been assisting in teen, women’s, and family retreats and working in partnership with this mission congregation to reach out into other areas of Guatemala. This year we have had at four short term mission trips to Guatemala and will do a family camp in November.
Kenya: Otter Creek has been supporting Charles and Darlene Coulston and Made in the Streets (a ministry to street children). We are excited because we have been assisting in the transition from Expatriate missionaries to an all Kenyan Team. This team lead by Francis Mbuvi is doing a great job and the passion for this ministry is apparent to all those who have traveled there. Beyond the budget, Otter Creek has several short term mission trips each year. Our own Katera Bolander is completing a one year tour with MITS. This work focuses on taking street children out of the Nairobi Slums, giving them food and shelter, and equipping them with job skills so that they can support themselves. Throughout the entire program team members, share their faith and grow these kids in their relationship with God.
Ukraine: Chris and Lena Lovingood are the heart of a ministry to University students in Kiev. From the student center they and their team minister to approximately 250 students each day.
Jellico, TN: This year we are initiating a relationship with Good Soil Ministries which is overseen by Stephen Meeks. This year I have worked with Stephen in teaching a section in Goodsoils mission camp and the teens from OC spent a wonderful week with them there in August.
