Otter Creek Worship Ministry |
|
The worship ministry at Otter Creek plays a vital role in providing
an environment of praise and worship in our assemblies. People
involved in this ministry may participate on one of several
praise teams. They may also be involved in the large productions
we do or they may be behind-the-scenes working with stage management
or organization of events.
Praise Teams
The members of the praise teams serve primarily as praise
leaders for each service at Otter Creek. They also direct
thoughts through means of special songs and readings. Members
of the praise team will be expected to live as worshippers.
Musical Productions
We have established a tradition of excellence in the arts.
Traditionally, we do a full-scale musical with costumes, stage,
and lighting at Easter and a smaller-scaled production at
Christmas. Both productions are approached from a highly professional
point of view and with the expectation that we can have high
quality productions in churches today. We would love for you
to be a part of that with us. Believe me, there IS a place
for YOU!

Worship Minister Search |
Thank you for your interest in the Otter Creek Church and our Minister of Worship position.
May God’s discernment and wisdom rest on us, and on you, as we explore together the possibility of a future partnership in this critical area of the church’s life.
Let me walk you through the process briefly. The first step we would recommend is that you download the documents found here, read and digest them, and compare your own convictions and priorities to ours. 1. We have prepared several documents that will introduce you to the Otter Creek Church: a brochure for orientation, a brief history, our “Mission Statement” (a defining statement of purpose and direction), our “Statement of Beliefs” (core matters for us), and an outline of “Anchors and Boundaries” that have long guided our decisions about public worship on Sunday mornings. These documents should give you a pretty good idea of the character of our church. These documents can be found here.
2. Our “Vision for Worship” is a foundational document—defining the direction we want to pursue in our worship life at Otter Creek. As you think about and pray over this Vision, search yourself to discover whether this Vision fits you, coincides with your beliefs, and summarizes a view of worship with which you can whole-heartedly agree. We are looking for someone who will embrace, champion, and enact this vision for worship. This document can be found here.
3. We’ve developed a “Job Description” that lays out the nuts and bolts of this position … the expectations we would have of someone who accepts this role in our church family. Now, certainly, we anticipate that the ministry will be shaped by the minister. This job description will change depending on who steps up to this role. But in the main, these are the major areas of responsibility for our Minister of Worship. Recognize especially that, whereas leadership of assembled worship is important, an intimate connection to the life of worship in a variety of settings and circumstances is also important. We’re not looking for a Sunday morning star … we’re looking for someone who can lead us to worship pastures in every sphere of life. This document can be found here.
Second, we ask you to look at our standard Application Form as well as the Supplemental Questionnaire specifically designed for the position of Minister of Worship at Otter Creek. The questionnaire is quite lengthy and detailed and will take you some time to complete. To address its questions will require real thought and soul-searching on your part. Yet we are requiring this of all candidates—we think it’s that important. Your thoughtful, prayerful, candid interaction will help us see your heart and learn about your gifts and experience. You can fill out and submit the Application Form on-line, or you may print out the form and mail it in. You should download the Supplemental Questionnaire (now available), complete it using as much or as little explanation as you feel necessary and then email it back to us at moriah@ottercreek.org.
In addition to the Application, we may ask for other material from you—including a video of a worship period you have planned and led … written pieces (e.g., devotionals, lesson outlines) you have developed … and sample worship plans for public assemblies. All of these should be sent in a single package to:
Applications Otter Creek Church 409 Franklin Road Brentwood, TN 37027
Questions regarding the position, the application, the time-frame, etc. should be addressed to Phil Gibbs, our Diresctor of Ministries at philgibbs@ottercreek.org.
Your interest in and application for this position will be held in strictest confidence. Be aware, however, that you will be asked to provide references.
The deadline for Applications is March 21, at which time we will begin the process of narrowing our focus to the candidates we believe most qualified and in whom we are most interested. Several of those candidates will be invited to travel to Nashville, meet our elders, staff, and church family, spend a Sunday with us, and interview with our Selection Committee.
We have been praying and will continue to pray about this process. We will pray over you, your present work, and your interest in our position. Speaking for the Ministry Team here at Otter Creek, I will say that we are eager to learn who God is calling to this role and eager to partner with that person for Kingdom purposes. If “that person” is you, we can’t wait to welcome you to one of the most exciting, vibrant, loving churches any of us have ever experienced.
