OCYG Statement of Vision
The Otter Creek Youth Group is committed to doing Bible things: REACHING the Lost, LOVING each other, WORSHIPING God, MATURING in their faith, & SERVING the world around them, in Bible ways: in the name of Jesus, by the power of the Holy Spirit, and for the Glory of God the Father!

Classes: Sunday Mornings, Sunday Nights, & Wednesday Nights are times that the youth group consistently gets together to accomplish the above vision. Classes, Covenant Groups, Worship times, & Sunday Night Live (an insanely exciting experience!) will all provide teens with opportunities to connect to each other, mentoring adults, & the living God!

Activities: Movies, Devotionals, Bowling, Sleepovers, Trips, Service Projects...you name it, we do it. Whatever will pull teens in & help us accomplish the above vision is what we will do. Parents & Youth Leaders will help make these events possible by chaperoning /organizing/leading.

Special Events: From Retreats to Camp, Nashville Workcamp to Mission Trips, & Ski Trips to Lipscomb IMPACT, our youth group will set aside time to get away from the “daily grind” in order to submerge ourselves in God’s community for the purpose of being changed by HIM. Youth Group 24 hours a day is fun…but it’s WAY more than that! Many of our teens…and their friends...will get a chance to encounter God in life-changing ways during these “Special” Events.

OCYG Summer 2012 Mission Trip Opportunities

Ulpan Valley, Guatemala

If you love OCCC, then you can imagine how awesome it would be to bring the OCCC to Guatemala! On this trip, the OCYG will join the Hatchell and Colvett families in a remote area of Guatemala to share the love of God and to share the joy of a Guate version of the OCCC with the youth in that area. The dates for this trip are June 2-9. (Note: please plan for the possibility that these dates COULD change by one day forward or back – depending on airfare.) The approximate cost is $1200. A $120 deposit is due by November 15. This trip is open to current 9th-12th graders. Registration is closed. To be placed on the wait list, please email laurie@ottercreek.org.

Made in the Streets – Kenya, East Africa

On this trip we will join forces with the Made in the Streets Mission and experience the ministry first hand that has changed the future of a countless number of children who were once living on the streets. After listening to the testimonies from missionaries and former street kids, you can bet that your life will be changed after working with this ministry. This is the first time the OCYG will attempt a parent/teen mission trip and our target will be to have 8 teen/parent combos. The approximate cost for this trip is $2400 and requires a non refundable pre deposit of $50 by the November 1 online registration deadline. There will be a $240 deposit due by November 15. The date range for this trip is July 11 – 25. (Note: the length of this trip has not been set yet. It COULD be as long as 2 weeks.) This trip is open to current 9th-12th graders.

LIFT - Huntsville, AL

While it isn’t another country, our group found out last year that you don’t have to leave the USA in order to experience the trip of a lifetime. Don’t sign up unless you are ready to lead. This is a trip that will stretch each student to use his/her gifts of leadership to touch the hearts & lives of inner-city kids in Huntsville, AL. Space is limited. Deposit of $50 will reserve your spot. Total cost is estimated at $110. Dates for this trip are July 8-13. (Note: this trip is a bit earlier this year & that is because LIFT needed us earlier. It was this week or nothing…we are very lucky to get in!) This trip is open to current 8th-12th graders.

Lipscomb Mission Camp

This camp is a brand new opportunity being offered by Lipscomb University. It is an amazing opportunity to gain practical experience for future mission trips both locally and internationally. During this camp, students will live in a staged environment which will resemble life in another culture. They will have the opportunity to experience the people, food, and environment while learning how they can use that experience to serve others. The maximum cost will be $150 and no deposit is required at this time. Dates will be announced at a later time.

Nashville Workcamp

Don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity to serve your local community! Students will have the opportunity to go out each day and be the hands and feet of Jesus to their very own neighbors. They will work with youth from other churches each day and gather each night to worship together. If you took part in Nashville Workcamp last year, you will be so excited to know that this year we will be spending each night at the OC building together so that we can build better camaraderie as a mission team as well as process together what God is doing through us right here in Nashville! The approximate cost for this mission work is $65. No deposit is required at this time. This mission work is open to current 7th -12th graders and parents are encouraged to help.

Mission Nashville

You don't have to leave town to be a missionary! This local mission trip will take allow us the opportunity to serve our city and explore ways to continue to serve all year long. Students will stay at the at the building each night and go out into the city for different service experiences each day. We plan to partner with places like Nashville Rescue Mission, assisted living facilities, and Youth Encouragement Services, just to name a few. The approximate cost of this mission work will be $75 and is open to all current 5th-7th graders. No deposit is required at this time.

OCYG Scholarship Guidelines & Applications

Significant changes are being made in how scholarship money is budgeted & allocated (to take effect immediately). It has always been our goal to make sure that NO student misses life changing experiences due to financial realities. That goal is not changing. As we have grown, however, we have seen a need to connect the OCYG's scholarship efforts to the passion that Otter Creek at large has for healthy families and healthy finances. Refund Policy

Because of our growing ministry and our sincere desire to be good stewards with church funds, the OCYG has developed the following cancellation/refund policy:

OCYG Cancellation/Refund Policy
Unless otherwise stated for a particular event, registrants who cancel more than two weeks prior to an event may be refunded up to 90% of fees paid. Cancellations made within 2 weeks of an event may be refunded up to 75%; within the week of the event, up to 50% may be refunded. All refunds are made at the discretion of the Youth Ministers. Any request for a refund will not be processed until after the event has occurred to ensure that the church's financial liability has been covered. You can expect to be notified within 30 days after the event whether a refund is forthcoming and the total amount of the refund.
